Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful information from NJ Spine Institute

Am I a candidate for minimally invasive spine surgery?

Before we can answer that question, Dr. Q will need to meet with you, review your medical history, and diagnose your exact condition. He may be able to provide a nonsurgical solution and help you avoid surgery altogether.

What surgery procedures do you perform?

Dr. Q has extensive experience performing both traditional and minimally invasive spine surgeries. He now does 90% of his procedures in the least invasive way possible. You can learn about our most common procedures here.

How long should I expect it to take to recover from a minimally invasive procedure?

Generally you should be able to walk within 24 hours of surgery (often the same day). Dr. Q will discuss how quickly you can get back to normal activities. It may depend on your age, health and physical condition.

How can I make an appointment?

If you are a new patient, please call our office at 201-493-0123 to make your first appointment. For your convenience, existing patients can call or use our online appointment form.

Do I need a referral?

You can make an appointment with Dr. Quartararo without a referral.

What insurance do you accept?

NJ Spine Institute accepts patients from all insurance providers, although we may not be contracted providers for your specific insurance. We have chosen not to be part of an insured provider network so we can give you the highest level of service and attention you deserve.

What are my payment options?

We will work with your insurance company to ensure that your out-of-pocket cost for our services is similar to what it would be if we accepted your insurance. We accept all major credit cards for payment.

Will I get a bill for my procedure?

By law, you are responsible for the payment of medical service but we will work with you to minimize your out-of-pocket cost.

Why am I getting 2 or 3 bills for my procedure?

Your procedure may involve the services of several providers. You may receive:

  • A physician bill from NJ Spine Institute.
  • A facility bill from the medical facility where the procedure was performed.
  • A physician bill from the anesthesiologist, if IV anesthesia is used during the surgery.

Can I come to your office or center if I do not have insurance?

In a word: yes. We welcome all patients, including those without insurance. Of course, payment for services is the patient’s responsibility, but we have options that can help you pay for your treatment in regular installments. Please contact our billing office at 201-493-0123, and we can arrange a payment plan.
